Transgender and IDD: Supports and Safety

Transgender, folks exist everywhere in our society.  That includes neurodivergent and disabled individuals.  It is important to ensure that within our agencies that we support and provide safety for all no matter their identity or orientation. This workshop is specifically focused on support for intellectually or developmentally disabled (IDD) individuals.

Learning Goals

Following this workshop, you will be able to

  • commit to using the language needed to support transgender individuals.

  • describe some of the unique needs of transgender intellectually or developmentally disabled (IDD) individuals.

  • identify some of the challenges of transgender IDD individuals.

  • initiate support and safety practice for transgender IDD clients throughout their journey.
